A Partial Integrodifferential Equation in Granular Matter and Its Connection with a Stochastic Model
نویسنده
چکیده
Our aim is to introduce and study a new partial integrodifferential equation (PIDE) associated with the dynamics of some physical granular structure with arbitrary component sizes, like a sandpile or sea dyke. Our PIDE is closely related to the nonlocal evolution problem introduced in [F. Andreu et al., Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations, 35 (2009), pp. 279–316] by studying the limit, as p → ∞, of the nonlocal p-Laplacian equation. We also show the connection between our PIDE and the stochastic model introduced by Evans and Rezakhanlou in [L. C. Evans and F. Rezakhanlou, Comm. Math. Phys., 197 (1998), pp. 325–345.] for modeling the sandpile problem.

A wavelet method for stochastic Volterra integral equations and its application to general stock model
In this article,we present a wavelet method for solving stochastic Volterra integral equations based on Haar wavelets. First, we approximate all functions involved in the problem by Haar Wavelets then, by substituting the obtained approximations in the problem, using the It^{o} integral formula and collocation points then, the main problem changes into a system of linear or nonlinear equation w...

Accurate modeling of fluidization and heat transfer phenomena in gas-solid fluidized beds is not solely dependent on the particular selected numerical model and involved algorithms. In fact, choosing the right model for each specific operating condition, the correct implementation of each model, and the right choice of parameters and boundary conditions, determine the accuracy of the results i...

Asking for the optimal protocol of an external control parameter that minimizes the mean work required to drive a nanoscale system from one equilibrium state to another in finite time, Schmiedl and Seifert [T. Schmiedl and U. Seifert, Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 108301 (2007)] found the Euler-Lagrange equation to be a nonlocal integrodifferential equation of correlation functions. For two linear examp...
متن کاملA new approach to using the cubic B-spline functions to solve the Black-Scholes equation
Nowadays, options are common financial derivatives. For this reason, by increase of applications for these financial derivatives, the problem of options pricing is one of the most important economic issues. With the development of stochastic models, the need for randomly computational methods caused the generation of a new field called financial engineering. In the financial engineering the pre...
متن کاملAn integrated model for designing a distribution network of products under facility and transportation link disruptions
Due to occurrence of unexpected disruptions,a resilient supply chain design is important. In this paper, a bi-objective model is proposed for designing a resilient supply chain including suppliers, distribution centers (DCs), and retailers under disruption risks. The first objective function minimizes total costs. The second objective function maximizes satisfied demands. We use the augmented e-...
